Ivory satin gown
1931-1932
This body skimming garment from the early 1930's is made for a straighter, flatter figure than this modern mannequin. The subtle curves of the body are emphasized by the multiple seams that give shape to the garment. The panel in the front of the skirt is a flared cut that is pleated to create a set of graceful folds that would float away from the body as the wearer walks. Another flared skirt panel in the back forms a graceful train.
