Fitting the Muslin

The muslin.

Your muslin should be sewn with basting stitches that are easy to remove, and wide enough seam allowances for alterations. The centerline should be clearly marked, especially for overlapped or buttoned garments. Stay stitch all curved seam lines, and collars all the way around the perimeter. Do not sew in collars or sleeves for the first fitting. Prepare set in sleeves by sewing two rows of ease stitches and pulling them up until the sleeve fits the armscye. Seams should be finger pressed, not ironed.
